PUBLIC ART

I have always been drawn to the concept of public art as I like the idea of my art being accessible to all. Below are just some of the projects for which I have been an applicant, semi-finalist, or chosen finalist. I have also included on this page art that was commissioned and hung in public space such as a hospital or medical center.

Title NAPLES DENTAL CLINIC

Info

An 'Art in State Buildings' mosaic for the University of Florida's children's dental clinic in Naples, FL. My original proposal was for kids on a toothy T-rex as in the sketch above; this was changed to the UF mascot, an alligator(of course!). Above are original sketches; the mosaic layed out on adhesive - note the tiles are upside down and backwards; attached mosaic in sections, again note the tiles left out for where seams come together and where mosaic is screwed into the wall; and finally, installation room view and close-up. It really looks great with the other art in the building, the colorful suspended sea creatures.

Materials vitreous glass, unglazed porcelain, stained glass, glass marbles
Size 132" W x 54" H at center
